ISRO successfully launches Cartosat-2 from Sriharikotta

ISRO launched the PSLV C-38 this morning by putting the Earth observation satellite Cartosat-2 Series and 30 other nano satellites in its orbits. The 40th flight of its highly reliable polar satellite launch vehicle was removed from Satish Dhawan Space Center, Sriharikotta at 9:29 am.
Approximately 16 minutes after take-off, the rocket placed its main payload -Cartosat-Series Series in orbit. The satellite is the sixth in the Cartosat-2 series. It is the third Earth observation satellite for India in space. It will provide high-resolution point-specific images.

The satellite imagery of the Cartosat-2 series will be a useful mapping application, urban and rural applications, coastal land use and regulation and creation of land use maps. It will also be useful for the management of public services, such as road network monitoring, water distribution, land information systems and geographic information system applications.
Of the 30 nano-satellites 29 belongs to foreign customers from 14 countries including France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Great Britain and the United States. The other is a household payload of a private educational institution.
ISRO President, AS Kiran Kumar, congratulated the scientists after the mission was declared a success, saying, this only comes 18 days after the mad test flight of the vehicle launch vehicle class 4 tons GSLV Mark-III.
